Systematic effects in the search for the muon electric dipole moment using the frozen-spin technique

At the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) we are developing a high precision instrument to measure muon electric dipole moment (EDM). The experiment is based on frozen-spin method in which spin precession induced by anomalous magnetic suppressed, thus increasing signal-to-noise ratio for EDM signals achieve sensitivity otherwise unattainable using conventional g - 2 storage rings. expected statistical after year of data taking 6 10 −23 e cm with p = 125 MeV/c beam available at PSI. Reaching this goal necessitates comprehensive analysis spurious effects that mimic signal. This work discusses quantitative approach study systematic when searching EDM. Equations motion electromagnetic fields experimental system analytically derived and validated simulation.
